Scope

To be included in this database, a study needs to:

  • Clearly use random assignment to allocate participants or groups to experimental conditions.
  • Study prejudice as an outcome (defined as animus or negative bias toward social groups and their putative members).
  • Contain an intervention aimed at reducing prejudice or increasing tolerance.

The following studies are outside of the scope of this database:

  • Studies on gender-based prejudice, with the exception of prejudice toward transgender and genderqueer people
  • Studies of prejudice that have not traditionally been categorized as prejudice, such as inter-university rivalries and inter-partisan bias.
  • Studies that focus on the effects of prejudice on its targets.
  • Studies whose outcomes are focused solely on policy outcomes to the exclusion of any psychological or behavioral outcomes.
